2009 Christmas Awards

Most Infuriating Toy: A Transformer designed for ages "4+" that, even with the instructions, I absolutely could not turn into an airplane.

Most Played-With (by the kids) Toys: Light Sabers. Unfortunately I didn't buy one for my husband, so the two boys spent much of Christmas Day chasing him around pummeling him with theirs.

Most Played-With (by the grownups) Toys: Rubik's Cubes. (Also runner-up for most infuriating.)

First One Up: Seven-year-old, 5:00 a.m. (We made him wait until 6:30 before going downstairs, so it was a l-o-o-o-n-g hour and a half for the parents.)

Last One Up: Five-year-old, 8:30 a.m. (Somehow we managed to keep the other kids out of his stocking for two hours.)

Best Quote: Three-year-old, 9:45 a.m. (standing in the living room, surrounded by toys, books, crayons, markers, play-doh, and a pile of boxes and wrapping paper): "I have nothing to play with!"
