So much to do, so little time left

Somehow, inexplicably, 365 days have passed and it is time for my birthday once again.

Really? Already?

Now I'm no fool. I know that 34 is not exactly geriatric. And I am enjoying my 30s WAY more than my 20s, which were better than my teens. I know life begins at 40, and 50 is the new 40, and all that.

Still, even under the best of circumstances, you've got to figure my life is about a third of the way over, which is making me feel a little panicky.

There are so many things I want to do, places I want to go, and things I want to see. And it's not like I'm bursting with free time or energy.

The fact is, I think I might actually be kind of old.

As evidence, here are some things I have said recently:

"When does that show start? Not until 9:30? That's so late."

"Owww, my lower back hurts."

"Shoot, I forgot to take my Prilosec this morning."

"I can't believe they just said that on TV."

"How come they never make any good movies anymore?"

"Listen kid, when I was your age there was no Internet. We didn't even have a computer."

Speaking of computers, I'm sticking mine in the closet for the weekend while I celebrate with my family and enjoy a day in the sand and sun.

After all, there's nothing quite like playing at the beach to make you feel like a kid again.
