I've been tagged...

The blogosphere is rife with tagging these days, and last week I was "tagged" by my friend Angela, who somehow, despite having four children ages 6, 4, 3, and 2, manages to blog regularly. You can read about her life here

Since Angela keeps bugging me about it, and since I need something to write about today, I'm going to participate in this exercise. However, I would like to point out that this is a prime example of the overuse and misuse of the word "random." Especially rule #3, which says to tag seven random people. Seven random people would likely be people I don't even know, picked from the blogosphere arbitrarily. I'm not going to do that; I'm going to pick seven people whose blogs I read, and then leave it up to them if they want to participate. At any rate you can click on their names to check out their blogs. (I think that is kind of the point of this tagging thing anyway.)

With that out of the way, here are my seven random or weird facts about me, picked at random from the thoughts that came into my mind when I tried to think of random or weird thoughts about myself.

1. I am drinking a Coke at 9:20 p.m. I don't even like Coke. My plan is to have a little caffeine so I can completely organize my home and get my life in order tonight after I finish writing. I delude myself like this on a fairly regular basis. In reality, I will probably just watch a little TV and go to bed.

2. The summer I was 12 I played on a boys baseball team. Although I was oblivious at the time it did cause something of a stink in the small town where I lived. I was not an awesome baseball player, but I held my own.

3. As a very young child I used to chew on pillowcases. I would gnaw away at them until most of the pillowcase had disintegrated. I can still sort of remember how they tasted. My son chews on his shirt, so I guess enjoying the taste of fabric is genetic.

4. When my husband and I were dating, one of the first times we went out, we decided to go play golf. Neither of us had ever played golf. We dressed up in funny clothes and had absolutely no idea what we were doing. It took us the better part of a day to play nine holes. I think the idea to dress up in funny clothes was probably my idea, but he went along with it.

5. For about three years I worked as a substitute teacher. I was horrible at it. Horrible.

6. My whole life I never thought I would enjoy any activity that involved snow and being cold, but ever since I took my first lesson a few years ago, I absolutely love snowboarding. In winter I become downright obsessed.

7. In 1985, after watching Rocky IV, I decided I wanted to become a boxer. I'm not sure what was wrong with me back then.

And here is my list of not-really-random people. If anyone else reading this would like to participate, consider yourself tagged, as well.

Thanks for the tag! Unfortunately, I was tagged with this one earlier this month and did it a couple of posts ago. I'd do another one, but if I admit to *too* much weird stuff about me, it will send all my bloggy friends running for the hills :D

Had to giggle about the golf one. I once actually hit the tee out from under the golf ball, which just landed on the ground and mocked me. Hubby stuck with the whole golf thing and can now hold his own. He even plays in tournaments sometimes. I stick to mini-golf!

Go to bed? Are you crazy?? It's only midnight! But hey, look who I'm telling. The woman who was sucking down caffinated products in an attempt to get things done after everyone went to bed ;D

Besides, this is the only time of night I get the remotes to myself!

The caffeine didn't work? I rarely drink it so if I have any I'm bouncing off the walls till 3:30 in the morning. I get a lot done, though ;D

So, whatcha watching?

I'm actually watching Farscape reruns that I got from the library. There's nothing on our 40,000 channels, either.

And yes, I love these blog comment conversations. Though I have noticed they tend to happen in the wee hours of the night. Probably because that's the one time we mom's can guarantee we have some uninterrupted time on the computer!

'night!

Tagging thingy: This will be fun, will get to it (rubbing hands in anticipation)

Oh, and you chewed a pillowcase, your son a shirt. Sonny chews anything and everything!
